Explore, swim, surf or bask in the sun on one of the many beautiful beaches in Hermanus,. including Grotto Beach which stretches for miles across the Bay, and is home to local favourite, Duchies restaurant and a pop up beach bar in season.
Hermanus is famous for its land and sea based whale watching from June to October when Walker Bay experiences the annual migration of Southern Right and Humpback Whales. Regular Whale Watching Boat tours leave from the New Harbour daily in season (subject to weather and sea conditions).
The Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, Stanford and Elgin areas are home to some of South Africa's finest and most beautiful vineyards. The Hopper provides hop on hop off vineyard tours which are a great way to enjoy wine tasting without being concerned about driving.
The Farmers Market is a popular spot for both locals and tourists to have breakfast or brunch on Saturday morning. The market offers an array of fresh organic produce, home made delicacies, artisan breads, hand made cheeses, wheat-free bakes, a whole variety of arts & crafts, as well as live music and a wide variety of food and wine stalls.
Well maintained hiking trails suited to all fitness levels are plentiful. Fernkloof and Vogelgat Nature Reserves offer beautiful scenery, spectacular views and an awesome array of indigenous flora. The world famous Cliff Path is also a very popular trail in Hermanus stretching from the New Harbour for about 15 km along the rugged coastline all the way to Grotto beach, offering incredible sea and mountain views and the best land based whale watching in the world (in the Whale Season)
A favourite activity with children. Enjoy a a picnic, their artisanal cheeses while the kids get to explore and feed the farm animals.
Shark Cage Diving is popular with adventure enthusiasts. Organised tours on large diving boats depart regularly from Gansbaai.
Kite Surfing, Kayaking, Para Gliding, Zip Lining, Quad Biking, Horse Riding are all available in and around Hermanus allowing visitors to take advantage of the weather and outdoors.
